Show-case 6: Defence

- Glazed tile:  „Knight on the castle‘s wall“

The crenels are interrupted by loop-holes. After introduction of guns in warfare this defence system was widely used.

- Moulds for bullets

The two forms were superposed and fixed by tacks in the perforations. The liquid metal could be filled in through the holes.

- Points of darts of crossbows

Two dartpoints are distorted. These arrows were shot during the Peasants‘ War. The smaller and longer forms date from the 14th/15th century.

- Chain mail made of iron mails

Such a coat of mail weighed several kilograms. It belonged to the basic equipment of a knight; later it was replaced by a cuirass of breast plates.
